Healthy Kennebunk

Kennebunk was 1 of 20 communities invited to participate in this pilot program back in 2012. The program is the result of a collaboration between the Maine Downtown Center and MCD Public Health and was made possible by a $1.64 million grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Community Transformation Grants. The program established local Wellness Committees, that worked to address the disparate health access and outcomes for employees of small businesses, that are the heart and soul of small town centers. The grant allowed communities and small businesses to come together to create wellness programs shared by small businesses and downtowns that are transforming Maine communities into more healthy, vibrant places to live and work.
