The Community Garden Committee oversees two public garden sites where gardeners pay a nominal seasonal fee to grow organic vegetables, herbs and flowers. The committee provides garden space, advice on growing and an opportunity to meet similarly interested community members.
The mission of the Community Garden Committee is:
To create safe, well-equipped organic gardens for the community to rent plots and grow organic produce and flowers for their own use or to donate;
To educate the public and encourage participation in organic gardening;
To establish larger Community Gardens at each site, which are staffed by volunteers and provide organic produce for distribution to people in need and;
To work in partnership with local, municipal and state organizations to distribute produce to food pantries and other charitable groups.
Meetings
The Community Garden Committee meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month
at 5:30 p.m. on the 3rd floor of Town Hall. All meetings are posted in Town Hall and on the Meeting Calendar.
