The Community Development, Planning, and Codes Department is responsible for a wide variety of municipal activities including:
  • Comprehensive planning
  • Downtown and village planning
  • Zoning ordinance amendments and enforcement
  • Development review
  • Natural resources
  • Sign / building / plumbing / electrical permits

Through our work we aid in helping to protect Kennebunk’s community, economic, natural, and historical resources.

The Community Development, Planning, and Codes Department performs a variety of services intended to protect, maintain, and develop an attractive, safe, and healthy environment. Primary functions address property development and land use activities occurring in the Town of Kennebunk.

The Community Development, Planning, and Codes Department provides direction and leadership in implementing the goals, objectives, and policies of the town’s comprehensive plan as adopted by the residents of Kennebunk.

The department is also responsible for the orderly development of the town and the administration of various land use regulations, including the zoning ordinance and building code.
