Curbside Collection (trash & recycling)
The Town of Kennebunk provides curbside collection of residential household trash and recycling on a weekly basis.

New Program
As of June 29, 2015, we began a new automated trash and zero-sort (also known as single-sort) recycling collection program. Pine Tree Waste Services (a Casella company) has been contracted to provide this new automated residential service.

Each residence is issued two 64-gallon wheeled containers. One container will be identified for trash and the other for recycling material.

Please note the following:
  • Collection is weekly; with a four-day route schedule.
  • Town Pay-As-You-Throw trash bags are required. Just place your Town bags in your Town trash container for pickup.  If you prefer to bring your trash to the transfer station located at 36 Sea Road, the facility will accept household trash provided it is in the Town's PAYT trash bags.
  • Recycling is zero-sort, which means paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, metal, tin and aluminum will all be collected in one container each week – without the need to separate.
  • Collection for private roads will be at the intersection with the public right of way. Private road home-owners/associations can arrange through Pine Tree/Casella (888-857-0800) for possible alternate collection locations.

Included with each recycling container will be instructions about what to recycle, where to place your container for pickup, your collection day, and more!

Additional Information
Please see the category tabs on the left of this page for Information on your collection day, private road information, holiday pickup, where to purchase Town-required trash bags, what can be recycled and more!

Residents may also call 985-6778:
 - Option 1 to speak with Pine Tree Waste Customer Service for answers to non-collection notices or for information pertaining to the automated collection service.
 - Option 2 to speak with CPRC, contracted to manage the Transfer Station

Transfer Station
Items that cannot be left curbside for collection can be brought to the transfer station located at the Public Services Facility on Sea Road. This facility is currently contracted to a local company (CPRC) and this company sets the rules and fees for acceptable items according to current laws and regulations.

For those who may occasionally have more trash than will fit in your curbside collection trash container, who may be away during the scheduled collection, or live on a private road and find the curbside collection program challenging, the transfer station will accept household trash provided it is in the Town's PAYT trash bags.

Also located at the transfer station is a drop off area where residents can bring their recycling items free of charge if they do not wish to leave them out for curbside collection.
