The Town of Kennebunk will be celebrating its 200th anniversary as a community on June 27, 2020. This bicentennial celebration will include a parade, block party, art exhibit and more, and will be memorialized in a commemorative booklet to be published and distributed earlier that June.
One exciting aspect of the Bicentennial will be the designation of the Kennebunk Freed Slave Settlement as a National Register Historic District. This project, spearheaded by our committee, is considered to be of tremendous cultural and historic value. An archaeological study is now underway by the Maine Historic Preservation Commission.
The Bicentennial Committee is currently working on planning all of these wonderful events, as well as the commemorative booklet and fundraising to cover the costs of these items.
Many sponsorship levels allow you to include your business name, family name or perhaps a name in memory of a special someone to the pages of the commemorative booklet, and fundraising to cover the costs of these items. Sponsorships are offered on a first come, first served basis.
