"Slow Down Kennebunk"
What is the Slow Down Kennebunk Campaign?
The "Slow Down Kennebunk" campaign is a community effort to decrease speeding on our roadways. The Town of Kennebunk and the Kennebunk Police Department are seeking voluntary compliance by all drivers to SLOW DOWN and obey the posted speed limit.
Why is the Town of Kennebunk Launching an Anti-speeding Campaign?
Speeding has become noticeably problematic in Kennebunk. Since the COVID pandemic there has been an uptick in speeding nationally. Speeding endangers everyone on the road. According the NHTSA, In 2019, speeding killed 9,478 people. Speed limits are put in place to protect all road users. When you speed, you put everyone on our roadways at risk including pedestrians, cyclists, children and other drivers. The goal of this campaign is to create awareness of the dangers of speeding and achieve voluntary compliance in obeying the speed limit.
