Dog Advisory Volunteer Group (formerly Committee)

At the Select Board meeting on February 8, 2022, the Board dissolved the Dog Advisory Committee and established a Dog Advisory Volunteer Group. 

The Dog Advisory Volunteer Group promotes the responsible behavior of pets and their owners and monitors the public beaches in Kennebunk keeping these areas clean, safe and accessible for the enjoyment of all. The group's activities also include:
  • Overseeing the beaches when dogs are present to ensure that all are following the rules in the ordinance;
  • Identifying, receiving and following up on any reports of incidents involving dogs on the beach and working cooperatively with the Kennebunk Police Department and Animal Control officer to resolve any issues that arise;
  • Keeping dog waste bag dispensers filled along the beach and;
  • Maintaining the Welcome Dogs on Kennebunk Beaches (PDF) info sheet
