Last Call at the Market

Shopping Alert.....Shopping Alert.....Shopping Alert.....Shopping Alert.....Brought to you by the Community Market of the Kennebunks!

Mark your calendars... the final Market Day is this Saturday, October 6th. This season has brought together a wonderful group of Maine crafters who have shared their artistic passions and talents every Saturday since late May at the Community Market of the Kennebunks. Additionally, each week two of our vendors would donate an item for our raffle resulting in two very happy raffle winners. Weather was never a detrimental factor as the shows were held under the cover of Kennebunk's Waterhouse Center on Main Street. Whether market-goers had heard about the market from various sources or were walking or driving by, all were pleased that they had stopped and shopped.

Scenes from the Market

Plan to spend time at the market this Saturday and get all your holiday shopping done early this year. The wide variety and the quality of the items made by our Maine based artisans is truly amazing. Purchase something special for friends and family; heck, purchase something special for yourself.

As official mascots for the Community Market, we'd like to say thanks to all who shared time with us during the season. As Roy Rogers and Dale Evans used to say,

"Happy trails to you, until we meet again,

Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.

Happy Trails to you, 'til we meet again."

See you next year - first day of the 2019 Community Market will be in late May.

Best Regards,

Mr. and Mrs. CMOK

As our season winds down we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has stopped and shopped at the Community Market of the Kennebunks. Our visitors and vendors have made this unique, local market a downtown attraction and a success this summer! If you haven't stopped by yet, our last weekend at the Waterhouse Center this season is Saturday, October 6th. The Community Market will open again in late May 2019 and run each Saturday from 9-2 through early October.

Throughout this season on the blog we've featured many of the vendors who bring their locally produced goods to the Market each Saturday. This week we introduce you to our featured vendor, Deirdre Robinson, artist and pianist living in Kennebunk.

Deirdre studied piano with Cynthia Pash focusing primarily on classical music. She later branched out into show tunes and improvisational playing. These days she enjoys playing dinner music, cabaret and the occasional sing-a-long. Deirdre is also an eclectic artist, with specific focus on painting, print-making and jewelry making.

She studied at Portland School of Art and has exhibited in numerous galleries and shows in New England. Between her art and musical talents Deirdre brings a one-of-a-kind energy to the Market each Saturday. Don't miss her or any of our other vendors before we close for the season next weekend!

Best Regards,

Mr. and Mrs. CMOK

Are You Feeling Lucky?

At the September 8th  Community Market, the opening song from the musical Oklahoma - "Oh What a Day"  echoed  at the Waterhouse Center. So what did we hear echoing at the September 15 market?  Well, it sounded like the theme song from the TV show Happy Days! Mr. CMOK thinks it went like this:

Sunday, Monday, Happy Days.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days.

Thursday, Friday, Happy Days.

Saturday, Community Market Happy Day!

Shoppers at the Market

And what a Happy Day it was! Great weather, live music provided both by Banjo Bob and our own Deirdre Robinson, and coffee. Oh Happy Day! Did I mention all the quality items our Maine based artisans make available? Oh Happy, Happy Day!

We have been featuring 1-2 vendors each week on the Market Blog but for this week, we'd like to share some exciting news about our raffle. Each week, two vendors donate an item for that day's raffle and when someone purchases an item from one of our vendors, they are provided with a raffle ticket.

Beginning Saturday the 15th, we expanded the opportunity to win one of the raffle prizes via a FREE raffle ticket. To obtain one of these FREE raffle tickets, all one has to do is complete a market Feedback form and hand it to any one of our vendors. We plan to continue this expanded raffle opportunity each Saturday through the last market event on October 6th.

As always, looking forward to seeing everyone at the market. Don't forget about the expanded raffle ticket opportunity.

Best Regards,

Mr. and Mrs. CMOK
