Kennebunk will celebrate its Bicentennial with several video events based on the original celebration schedule for 2020.

At the January 25, 2021 Bicentennial Committee meeting, the committee voted that there will be no public gathering events for the Bicentennial Celebration this year due to the pandemic.

The committee has decided that they will have several video events based on the original schedule for 2020.   These events will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Opening presentation with Town officials and Community/business members
  • Archaeological presentation regarding the findings at Kennebunk’s historic African American community site
  • Museum in the Streets tour with actors in period costume
  • Militia presentation exploring life in Colonial America
  • Bicentennial Quilt display
  • 2020 Time capsule display and dedication
  • Colonial Music event with dinner and signature-cocktail pickup from local restaurants
  • Bicentennial Booklet and souvenir distribution

Work on these video presentations will begin in March.

In addition to the events mentioned above, a 3rd archaeological survey is planned to take place in 2021.

Souvenir mugs, glasses, hats and a special bicentennial coin are currently for sale in the Town Clerk’s office at the Town Hall.

We'll have more details in the coming months, so please keep an eye on the Town's Bicentennial Committee web page and Facebook page.
