COS has moved its food pantry to the former Teen Center.
Community Outreach Services (COS) has moved into its new location at 19 Park Street in Kennebunk. The former Teen Center was rapidly transformed over an eight week period with the help of town staff, volunteers, and donors who contributed supplies and services. This move marks a milestone in the 30 year history of COS, finally giving them a space of their own. On Friday, September 11, 2020, they successfully hosted their first produce pantry at the new location.
With the mission of extending a helping hand to community members who face challenges with food, fuel or specific needs emergencies, COS has operated out of local churches over the years and most recently St. Martha’s Church and the Vinegar Hill Music Theater. COS has a strong relationship with the General Assistance staff of all three towns, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel, and this new space will help them to better serve those in need. The Park Street location provides much needed cold storage and more space.
COS Executive Director, Mark Jago said, “With much work and visionary drive from Karen Winton and Chris Osterrieder and support from the Kennebunk Town Manager and Select Board, our dream to have our own home has finally come true. With an incredible construction leadership role from Dave Boyd, the building has been transformed to make our new headquarters a beautiful place to serve the needs of our neighbors in the community.”
