We've Come a Long Way
The Town of Kennebunk has produced a community-wide public service announcement video offering words of encouragement and thanks in the continued fight against COVID-19. The video, entitled “We’ve Come a Long Way,” features municipal leadership, Town staff, business owners, school officials, and community members of all ages, who each take a turn reminding the public that now is a “critical time to stay vigilant.” The video encourages the public to continue following safety measures such as mask-wearing, handwashing and physical distancing. The video sends a unified message about the importance of working together as a community and following CDC guidelines to stop the spread of coronavirus as we move into a second wave of COVID-19. It also acknowledges the efforts of those in our community who have helped Kennebunk to maintain a relatively low infection rate while continuing to promote businesses and support tourism.
“At a time when we are all feeling a little fatigued due to wearing a mask, staying six feet or more apart and incessantly washing our hands, the timing of this video release could not be better,” said Town Manager Michael Pardue. “It reminds us all not only have we come a long way, but we’ve got this.”
The video, created and produced by Communications Specialist, Tina Radel, was made possible through a grant that the Town of Kennebunk received in July. Kennebunk was one of many municipalities awarded a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The Town received $154,981, to be used for expenses incurred for public education activities, physical distancing and public health support, and for local business education.
