Concealed Weapons Permits

Concealed Weapons Permit Application

The Application for a Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) is available to download online. Please return your completed application, in person, to the Kennebunk Police Department. The police station is open 24hrs, 7 days a week for your convenience. Appointments are not necessary, however, an officer will take your photo and fingerprints, so you should expect to spend approximately 20-30 minutes at the station. Bring official photo ID such as a Maine driver's license, and a check made out to the Town of Kennebunk for the appropriate amount listed on the application.

Applicants may access a copy of Town Ordinance 3-7, entitled Firearm Discharge Ordinance on the Ordinances page. Per Maine State law, a gun safety course must be taken prior to receiving a CWP. If you are renewing a CWP that was issued prior to April 15, 1990, you are exempt from this requirement. As well, individuals with prior military service are also exempt; however, a copy of a DD214 must be supplied.
