Driveway Entrance Applications

A Driveway Entrance Application must be completed for all new entrances to town rights of way. Once completed, please return to the Public Works Department for evaluation and acceptance. For more information, please call the department at (207) 985-4811.

 Street Cut & Sidewalk Excavation Permit

A Street Cut and Sidewalk Excavation Permit Application is required to tunnel under or to make any excavation in any street, alley, sidewalk, or other public place in the town. Once completed, please return the application to the Town Clerk's Office. Please refer to the ordinance for requirements. 

 Road Postings

Each spring, the Town of Kennebunk authorizes the closing of certain town ways to any non-exempt vehicle or combination of vehicles registered for a gross weight of over 23,000 pounds. The roads are closed to such traffic so that heavy vehicles will not damage the roads while the frost is working its way out of the ground.  Roads are posted in February and generally remain closed until the end April, unless otherwise posted. Any violation of the rules is a traffic infraction punishable by a fine of not less than $250.  For a list of posted roads and FMI:

 Exceptions To Posted Regulations

Home heating fuel delivery trucks and municipal solid waste collection trucks are exempt from posted road regulations. The posting shall remain in force except when the way is solidly frozen. The highway is considered solidly frozen only when the air temperature is 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below and no water is showing in the cracks in the road. Both conditions must be met.
