[ARCHIVED] Interested in joining a Town Committee?

Planning Board meeting 2022

Kennebunk is currently seeking members for the Climate Action Plan Task Force and the Historic Preservation Commission (applications due 8/10/22). We also have openings on many other Town committees.

The Town of Kennebunk is privileged to have a committed group of volunteers who generously give their time and talents to a variety of committees (boards, committees and commissions).

New Climate Action Plan Task Force: The Towns of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Kittery and Biddeford, along with Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission have been awarded funding and work is underway to share resources and experience in developing community specific Climate Action Plans.  Kennebunk’s Task Force, consisting of staff and various stakeholders will serve as the lead for the Climate Action Plan process and plan development. Task Force members will work together with the public engagement consultant to involve the community and garner support, provide input on the selection of adaptation and mitigation measures, develop goals for the Town’s Climate Action Plan and serve as a liaison to Kennebunk’s Select Board throughout this process.  The Town is seeking two community members to serve on this Task Force. FMI on this new committee or to fill out a Volunteer Form, visit www.kennebunkmaine.us/CAPTF.  Volunteer Forms must be submitted no later than August 10, 2022.

Historic Preservation Commission: The Town is seeking a qualified volunteer to serve on its Historic Preservation Commission. The Kennebunk Historic District was created in 1963 by the Town of Kennebunk and is the oldest historic district in the state. The Historic Preservation Commission operates according to Article 12 of the Kennebunk Zoning Ordinance (PDF) and primarily reviews applications for Certificates of Appropriateness for work proposed to alter the exterior of structures and property located within the Historic Preservation Overlay District. Individuals with a demonstrated interest, competence, or knowledge in historic preservation, and those that may represent the Secretary of the Interior Professional Qualifications Standards in the areas of History, Archeology, Architectural History, Architecture or Historic Architecture, are encouraged to apply.  FMI on the HPC or to fill out a Volunteer Form, visit www.kennebunkmaine.us/HPC.  Volunteer Forms must be submitted no later than August 10, 2022.
