On June 11, 2024 the Town of Kennebunk adopted amendments to the Flood Plain Management ordinance. The Flood Plain Management Ordinance is included as part of the Non-zoning Town Ordinances (PDF). The Flood Plain Management Ordinance was reviewed by the Maine Flood Plain Management Program and determined to be compliant with Federal and State requirements. This ordinance enables the Town of Kennebunk to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program and establishes a permit system and review procedure for development activities in designated flood hazard areas of the Town of Kennebunk. These designated flood hazard areas are depicted on the updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) which are effective as of July 17, 2024.
Copies of the flood maps may be viewed in the Community Development office and online using the FEMA Flood Map Service Center or the National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL) Viewer.
