FRAUD NOTICE: We are advising the public that fraudulent actors have attempted to pose as the Town of Kennebunk “Board Commissioners” and are initiating contact with applicants to request an immediate wire transfer for fees associated with the review of their application. At no time will our department ever ask for a wire transfer of any funds associated with the review of an application. The Community Development Department allocates resources on services and initiatives that balance the preservation and enhancement of the community for residences, community organizations, businesses and visitors. This involves support and development of plans and initiatives consistent with Town adopted plans, State statutes and local ordinances. The work is accomplished within the disciplines of Planning, Code Enforcement and Engineering.
Principal Focus Areas:
Administration of State adopted statutes and codes which include permit issuance, review and inspection
Compliance and enforcement of ordinances
Support of Long Range Planning activities in the areas of climate, housing, economy, transportation, natural resources and other areas that may affect the community
Review and facilitation of development review activities
Technical and administrative support to multiple Town quasi-judicial Boards and Committees
Interdisciplinary support with other Town Departments on capital planning, ordinance compliance and project facilitation
Working with regional partners to coordinate resources and activities that support the goals and objectives of the community’s adopted plans
Engage with the public to assist in awareness and understanding of rules, regulations and processes that help facilitate activities in an informed and effective manner
